Hi!

I'm Nadine

I grew up on a Game Farm in the Limpopo area and matriculated from Hoƫrskool Pietersburg in 2010.

My love for baking started in our small Farm Style Kitchen which had an old oven with no specific temperature control.

I moved to Pretoria in 2011 in the hopes of following my dream in becoming a Professional Chef and studied Hospitality Management at Centurion Academy where I received a Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management in 2015. The Yellow Hat Chef took it's first orders under the name Crumble Cake Decadence in 2012 whilst still in my 2nd year of studies. I then decided to expand my knowledge and skills by also attending a short course in Sugar Craft at Prue Leith Chefs Academy and received my Certificate in Basic Sugar Craft in 2013.

TYHC was formally registered in 2015 and will celebrate its 6th year of providing exceptional baked goods and expertise as of October 2018.

I started out my journey in the pursuit of becoming a chef wherein I fell in love with the art of baking and also became a happily married mother to a beautiful daughter and 3 cats.

Other milestones I have achieved over the past 6 years include:

  • Worked alongside one of the most successful business women in the catering industry, Amarille Vermooten-Vorster, while completing my practical hours. Amarille served as a great mentor and my inspiration into becoming a successful independent businesswoman.
  • Hosting a variety of decorating classes for other sugar art lovers, family get together's and team building outings since 2016.
  • Solely catered for over 600 kiddies for one of the DSTV Delicious Events (Worked for Creative Collective) and managed all the planning, costings, staff training, baking, and presenting the Baking Workshops.
  •  Made over 15 000 decorated cookies over the past 3 years. This developed my self-taught skills and provided A LOT of practice in Royal Icing.
